SAVE THE SNOW DATE: Alex Bores to Host Just Ask Alex! Virtual Afterschool for Snowed-In NYC Kids
In the morning, we shovel out. In the afternoon, we geek out.
NEW YORK, NY – Tomorrow, Monday, January 26 at 4:00 PM, congressional candidate and Assemblymember Alex Bores will show up for a key constituency facing down an all-too-familiar winter tradition: how will working parents keep their kids entertained and educated on a snow day with no afterschool in session?
That’s why Alex is inviting snowed-in kiddos to log in for a Just Ask Alex Virtual Afterschool, where they can ask Alex anything and everything about AI (NYC and more!).
AI is no longer abstract. Roughly one in four teens is already using tools like ChatGPT for school, yet fewer than one in five schools offer any real guidance. The gap between use and oversight is widening fast. Parents are right to be worried about how to protect their kids from becoming data products for Big Tech, while still making sure they’re prepared for the world they’re growing up in.
At 4:00 PM on tomorrow’s snow day, Alex will plug in, log on, and take questions – from kids (and their parents) – about AI, AI safety, and how we can lead with our values while keeping power out of the hands of a few massive tech companies.
Alex believes the answer is both policy and empowerment: yes, we need strong laws to protect kids and families – he’s already hard at work on that – but we also need to help young people understand the tools they’re already using and how to navigate them safely and confidently.
Think of it as: everything you wanted to know about AI, but were afraid to ask (AI safety edition).
